Ultrasound Guided

Interventional Procedures

Description

Ultrasound guided pain therapy is offered at Frontier Diagnostics. The Radiologist uses ultrasound imaging to accurately target a joint space of concern to aspirate (suction) fluid and also inject anesthetic and steroid to reduce inflammation in the targeted joint. Often the procedure significantly alleviates pain for patients and improves joint mobility.

How to Prepare

  • You may eat and drink prior to your procedure. Fasting is not required for our ultrasound guided procedures.

  • Continue taking all your medications as prescribed by your physicians.

  • Please let us know if you have any bleeding disorders or you take any anticoagulants (blood thinners). Your doctor may need to adjust your mediation prior to your procedure.

  • Please be advised your procedure may not be performed if you have active infection or are on antibiotics. Corticosteroid injection may reduce antibiotic effectiveness.

  • Please call our clinic if you require accommodation due to physical limitations.
