Mammography
Description
-
Mammography is an essential breast imaging technique that uses low-dose X-rays to examine breast tissue. It is primarily used for the early detection of breast cancer, identifying abnormalities before they can be felt.
-
Annual screening with mammograms is recommended for women over 40 years old. Women aged 50 to 69 do not need a physician referral for screening mammograms.
How to Prepare
-
Avoid using deodorant, antiperspirant, lotion, or body powder on the day of your exam, as these can interfere with the images.
-
If you experience premenstrual tenderness, consider rescheduling your appointment.
-
Wear a two-piece outfit to make changing easier.
